Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, an aspirant for the Ondo State governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence in winning the party’s primary on April 20. He emphasized his strategy and widespread support across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state as key factors in his favor. Senator Ibrahim asserted that he is the most qualified candidate among the APC aspirants vying for the governorship ticket in Ondo State.
Speaking after submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms at the APC secretariat in Abuja, Senator Ibrahim highlighted his previous electoral success as an APC senator in Ondo South. He mentioned his victory with a significant margin of over 60,000 votes against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He expressed confidence in his ability to defeat any opponent, including the current Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, whom he predicted would serve only one year in office.
Senator Ibrahim, a business mogul, assured his commitment and dedication to the state, stating that he has already established a movement and collected data from over 400,000 individuals across more than 120 wards. He outlined his agenda if elected governor, which includes prioritizing the extraction of the $47 billion worth of Bitumen in Agbabu. He mentioned his efforts in advancing the Bitumen bill in the National Assembly, which aims to provide a legal framework for Bitumen operations and address the challenges faced in the sector due to the lack of appropriate legislation.
Regarding security, the senator emphasized his plans to strengthen the Amotekun security outfit and utilize a phone application integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to combat insecurity in the state. He stated that modern security measures require the effective use of technology, including the deployment of drones through military jets for enhanced surveillance.
Senator Ibrahim remains optimistic about his chances of emerging victorious in the primary election, expressing determination to secure the party’s ticket and ultimately win the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
