Chief Paul Oluwole, the State Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a member of the State Working Committee (SWC), has been suspended indefinitely by his Ward 10 in Oye LG.
The suspension comes amidst allegations that Chief Oluwole has been engaged in anti-party activities, specifically by supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leader, former Governor Ayodele Fayose.
A statement released by the Ward 10 executive committee cited Oluwole’s “actions and utterances that are inimical to the interest of the PDP” as the reason for the indefinite suspension. The statement further accused Oluwole of working against the party’s interests and undermining its candidates in the upcoming elections.
When reached for comment, Oluwole denied the allegations, calling them “baseless and politically motivated.” He stated that he remains a loyal member of the PDP and has not engaged in any anti-party activities.
However, sources within the party suggest that Oluwole’s suspension is part of a broader effort by the PDP leadership in the state to crack down on perceived disloyal elements ahead of the crucial elections.
This development comes at a critical juncture for the PDP, as the party seeks to regain control of the state government after a period of APC dominance. The suspension of a key party figure like Oluwole is likely to have significant implications for the party’s unity and strategy moving forward.
