2027: Kayode Ojo Raises Fresh Concerns After Ekiti Governorship Election, Sends Strong Message to Party Members
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Engr. Kayode Ojo, has expressed concern over what he described as the disappointing turnout of voters during the June 20, 2026 governorship election, warning that the development should serve as a wake-up call for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Elders and Consultative Forums of his campaign organisation in Ado-Ekiti, Ojo urged APC members across Ekiti State and the South-West to return to the grassroots and intensify mobilization efforts in preparation for the next general election.
According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the Kayode Ojo Campaign Organisation, Femi Awojobi, the former governorship aspirant said although the APC emerged victorious in the governorship poll, the low participation of eligible voters was a development that should not be ignored.
He stressed that electoral victory alone was not enough if a significant number of eligible voters stayed away from the polls, adding that the party must strengthen its engagement with people at the ward level.
“We have the numbers and the structure in Ekiti. But we must go back to the wards and work. 2027 is around the corner, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves our total support,” Ojo said.
The APC stalwart commended President Tinubu for what he described as his remarkable achievements since assuming office, saying the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda has laid the foundation for sustainable national development.
He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the President and his administration, expressing confidence that the government’s policies would yield greater dividends in the years ahead.
Ojo also appreciated members of his campaign organisation and supporters for standing firmly with him throughout the race for the APC governorship ticket, assuring them that their commitment, loyalty and sacrifices would not be forgotten.
“We have lost nothing. I can assure you of that. What is coming is more than what you thought we had lost. With or without the governorship position, I am poised to always support our people and alleviate their sufferings,” he said.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of his supporters, promising to continue offering assistance to those in need.
“I have always prayed to God to give me the power to support you all, no matter how many you are. I will always support you because I know everyone needs one form of support or the other — financially, morally and physically,” he added.
Ojo concluded by calling for greater unity, cohesion and cooperation among APC members across Ekiti State and the South-West, insisting that a united party remains the strongest platform for delivering victory for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
He urged party faithful to put aside personal interests and work collectively towards strengthening the APC ahead of the next electoral cycle, emphasizing that sustained grassroots mobilization would be crucial to the party’s future success.
