Just In: APC Chairman Dumps Party
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Pantami Ward, Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State, Bala Ngalda, has resigned from the ruling party and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ngalda announced his resignation in a letter dated July 27, 2026, addressed to the APC leadership in Pantami Ward. In the letter, he formally stepped down as ward chairman and terminated his membership of the party.
According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations with his family. He expressed appreciation to the APC leadership at the ward, local government, state and national levels for the opportunity to serve, while also thanking the Gombe State Government for the support he received during his tenure.
Despite leaving the party, Ngalda said he would continue to hold the APC in high regard and wished its members success in their future political activities.
In a related development, the APC Legal Adviser in Pantami Ward, Babangida Gololo, also resigned from his position and withdrew his membership of the party.
Gololo, in a separate resignation letter dated July 27, 2026, said his decision was reached after consultations with his family. He appreciated the party leadership and the Gombe State Government for the confidence reposed in him and the support extended throughout his service.
Although neither of the former APC officials disclosed specific reasons for their departure, both have formally joined the opposition PDP.
The defection of the two ward executives is expected to reshape the political landscape in Pantami Ward, a strategic political district in Gombe Local Government Area, as parties continue to reposition ahead of future political activities.
