The member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency I in the House of Representatives, Hon. Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo (AVM Rtd), has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a respected media professional, Otunba Gbenga Ogunmiloyo, a seasoned staff of TVC and a prominent member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Chapter.
In a statement released through his Media Team, Hon. Ojuawo described the late Ogunmiloyo as a brilliant cinematographer and a passionate journalist whose contributions to the media industry in Ekiti and Nigeria at large were immeasurable.
He recalled the late journalist’s unwavering dedication to the profession, noting that Ogunmiloyo was not only hardworking and creative but also deeply committed to truth, fairness, and community development through responsible journalism.
“Ogunmiloyo was a committed and pragmatic journalist who understood the power of the media in shaping society. His passion for excellence and his integrity earned him the admiration of colleagues and the respect of the people,” the statement read.
The federal lawmaker extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, his colleagues at TVC, and members of the NUJ in Ekiti State, urging them to take solace in the impactful life Ogunmiloyo lived.
“His death is a painful loss not only to the journalism community but also to the entire Ekiti South Federal Constituency and beyond. We mourn with his family and all those who had the privilege of working with him,” Hon. Ojuawo said.
He concluded with a prayer, saying, “May his soul find eternal rest, and may God, in His infinite mercy, grant comfort and strength to his loved ones during this time of profound grief.”
