The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned the much-anticipated judgment in the suit challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ekiti State to tomorrow, Wednesday.
The case, instituted by Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi, is contesting the outcome of the APC primary that produced Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the party’s candidate for the 2026 governorship election.
At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, the court announced that judgment was not ready, leading to the adjournment of the matter. No specific reason was publicly detailed for the shift, but parties in the suit have been directed to return for the ruling on the new date.
The development has prolonged the tension surrounding the legal battle, which has drawn significant attention from party members, political stakeholders, and observers across Ekiti State.
The suit raises critical questions about the conduct of the APC primary, with the plaintiff alleging irregularities and wrongful exclusion from the process. However, the defendants have maintained that the primary was conducted in line with laid-down rules and the Electoral Act.
With the adjournment, all eyes now turn to the next hearing date, where the court is expected to finally determine the validity of the APC primary and, by extension, the fate of Oyebanji’s candidacy.
The outcome of the case is widely seen as pivotal to the political direction of Ekiti State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
