The Ekiti State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed the legitimacy of its state leadership, declaring that the party remains united under the leadership of Hon. Omolase Lanre and urging all members to respect established constitutional structures.
In a detailed press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Femi Philips, the party said recent media reports and internal disagreements had made it necessary to restate its position on leadership, unity, and internal discipline.
The PDP maintained that there is no leadership crisis within the party, insisting that Hon. Omolase Lanre remains the duly recognized State Chairman whose record of service and political experience has strengthened the party’s stability in Ekiti State.
The statement also dismissed claims suggesting internal legal disputes involving Hon. Tunji Odeyemi or any other individual, stressing that the party is not engaged in any court case and remains focused on strengthening its structures ahead of future elections.
However, the party issued a strong warning to its governorship candidate, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, urging him to publicly recognize the party’s leadership and ensure the dissolution of any parallel political structures linked to his support group. According to the PDP, full reintegration into the party structure from the polling unit to the state level is essential for unity and electoral success.
The party further stated that continued ambiguity or refusal to align with its directive could compel it to reconsider its working relationship with the governorship candidate.
“The leadership of the PDP in Ekiti State is not in dispute, not vacant, and not subject to parallel arrangements,” the statement emphasized, adding that legitimacy within the party derives strictly from congresses conducted under INEC supervision and recognition by the national leadership.
The PDP also criticized recent reactions attributed to the candidate’s camp following an earlier press conference, accusing them of celebrating internal disagreements and failing to address core issues raised by the party leadership.
Highlighting the experience of its chairman, the party listed Hon. Omolase Lanre’s extensive political background, describing him as a stabilizing force whose leadership remains constitutionally grounded and widely accepted within the party.
Reiterating its commitment to peace and discipline, the PDP called on members across the state to remain calm and loyal, stressing that unity and respect for party structures remain critical to its preparations for upcoming elections.
The party concluded that it remains focused on rebuilding strength and presenting credible leadership to the people of Ekiti State, insisting that internal cohesion is essential for electoral success.
