A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Honourable Lanre Fayemi, has condemned the recent attacks on supporters of the governorship aspirant, Engineer Kayode Ojo in Ikere Ekiti, describing the incidents as “terrible” and a sign of desperation by Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s camp.
Fayemi, a pioneer minority leader of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and former Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission in Abuja, attributed the attacks to Oyebanji’s alleged directive to party Chairmen in the 16 local government areas and 177 wards of the State on social media.
“It’s a very terrible thing that’s happening within the APC as a party. We from the camp of Engineer Kayode Ojo, we are for peace, unity, and development of the APC in Ekiti State”, Fayemi said.
“According to Fayemi, Oyebanji’s actions are undemocratic and a clear indication that he knows he’s not popular among party members. “For Mr. Governor to issue out a statement against his own party members is a sign of desperation”.
He called on Governor Oyebanji to behave like a true democrat by seen things like a democrat, and also handle things like a democrat”.
Speaking further, Fayemi urged the security agencies to maintain peace and order in Ekiti State, and arrest anyone who wants to disturb the peace of the State, particularly those involved in the recent attacks on Ojo’s supporters in Ikere Ekiti.
Fayemi also accused the incumbent State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to stop running the party, All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State like a personal fiefdom.
