Babcock University to Confer Honorary Degree on Chief Wole Olanipekun

In a move to recognize his outstanding contributions to the legal profession, Babcock University in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, has announced that it will be conferring an honorary degree of Doctor of Law and Administration on Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN.

The university’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ademola S. Tayo, revealed this in a letter, stating that the decision was made upon the recommendation of the Board of Trustees and by the authority of the Governing Council and Senate of Babcock University.

Chief Olanipekun, who was recently appointed as the Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has been described as a “shining light and inspiration to graduates of law” due to his dexterity and expertise in applying the principles of law.

The university highlighted Chief Olanipekun’s lifetime of extraordinary achievements in the legal profession, his high intellectual profundity, and his deep understanding of the applicability of the principles of law, which have had a transformative impact and set a standard of excellence.

The letter also recognized Chief Olanipekun’s leadership accomplishments in university administration, public service, and volunteerism, stating that he has dedicated his life to serving the country with a patriotic zeal.

The honorary degree will be conferred during Babcock University’s 17th convocation ceremony, scheduled for July 28th, 2024. Chief Olanipekun has also been chosen to deliver the convocation lecture on the same day, which is expected to be attended by graduates, parents, guardians, government officials, and the general public.
