Addressing the fresh students, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa, emphasized that higher education goes beyond the acquisition of knowledge. According to him, it is a transformative journey focused on cultivating critical thinking, innovation, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
You are not just students today, Professor Adeoluwa declared. You represent hope, potential, and the future of Nigeria.
The VC reminded the matriculating students that their academic journey would be marked by hard work, challenges, and rewarding experiences. He urged them to embrace the opportunities before them, engage with diverse perspectives, and build relationships that would last a lifetime.
Cherish every moment, he advised. From rigorous classroom discussions to spirited debates and new friendships” all of these will shape who you become.
Professor Adeoluwa reiterated the university’s commitment to a safe and conducive learning environment. He warned against all forms of misconduct, stressing that BOUESTI has zero tolerance for cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, bullying, cybercrime, harassment, and other vices.
He called on the students to uphold integrity and discipline, and to avoid anything that could tarnish the image of the university. Your actions reflect not just on you, but on this great institution, he added.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Ekiti State JAMB Coordinator, Mr. Olukayode Samuel Dada, congratulated the students and their families. He assured parents that the university would nurture their wards into responsible and productive citizens.
The journey you have started here will not only enrich you academically but will also prepare you for the greater responsibilities ahead, Dada said.
The colorful ceremony marked a significant step in the lives of the new intakes, who are now officially members of the BOUESTI academic family.
