Former Senator Dino Melaye has fired back at his critics, accusing them of making baseless accusations about his use of government funds even years after he left office. In a fiery statement, Melaye claimed to be making “geometric and arithmetic progress at all levels” and criticized those who he says are still stuck on “1k data dey yarn nonsense.”
Melaye, who served as a Senator from 2015 to 2019, defended his personal achievements, stating that he has been making steady progress despite the criticisms. He took a jibe at his detractors, telling them to “borrow some sense” instead of making unfounded allegations about his use of government resources.
The former Senator’s comments come as the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing critique against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of inflicting hardship on Nigerians and betraying the democratic ideals championed by the late Chief MKO Abiola.
Melaye, who is known for his outspoken and controversial style, did not directly address the PDP’s allegations against the APC. However, his remarks appear to be a response to those who have continued to question his financial dealings and personal advancement even after leaving public office.
The former Senator’s statement has sparked a fresh round of debates on social media, with some supporters praising his defiant stance, while others have questioned the substance of his claims and the relevance of his comments in the current political landscape.
