Ekiti Group Drags State Government To Court Over Cargo Airport Records

A socio-political pressure group known as the Ekiti Patriotic Consultative Forum (EPCF) has taken legal action against the Ekiti state government at the High Court in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of the state.

The group is seeking an order of Mandamus to compel the state government to provide them with documents related to the Ekiti Cargo Airport project, including financial records and loans.

On March 28, 2024, the group filed a motion ex parte requesting the order of Mandamus. The lawsuit, identified as suit No- HAD//352m/2024, names the governor, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Accountant General of the state as defendants. However, a hearing date has not yet been scheduled.

According to a statement and court documents released by the group’s Lead Solicitor, Barr. Oluwagbenga Babawibe, the request for documents, including financial records and loans related to the airport project, is in accordance with the provisions of the Ekiti State Freedom of Information Law, 2011.
