The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has sent a strong message to political opponents on Thursday as large supporters flooded various Local Government Areas to participate in the recently concluded LG Congress. The Congress, hailed by observers as one of the most peaceful and well-attended political gatherings in recent time, showcased the enduring strength and grassroots appeal of the PDP across the state.
Held across all 16 local government areas with strong participation from delegates and party leaders. The seamless coordination and unity displayed have renewed confidence in the PDP’s strength and grassroots structure.
Speaking after the successful congress, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a prominent party chieftain and Governorship Aspirant ahead of the 2026 Ekiti Gubernatorial election described the turnout as a clear indication that “PDP is still the party of the masses.”
“The people have spoken. Their presence, energy, and commitment today show that our party remains the true hope of the common man in Ekiti. We are back, stronger and more united than ever,” Otunba Fayose said.
The peaceful conduct of the congress has drawn attention not only from PDP supporters but also from concerned stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC), who now face a reinvigorated opposition with growing momentum ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Otunba Fayose, known for his strategic grassroots mobilization and deep connection with the people, is being touted as a likely candidate for the PDP gubernatorial ticket. Sources within the party suggest that his soaring popularity and political acumen may make him the choice to lead the party into the next election.
He noted that the PDP’s massive turnouts during the congress is already causing ripples within APC ranks. With many Ekiti residents expressing fatigue over economic hardship and under development, the PDP appears well-positioned to mount a serious challenge to the ruling party’s grip on the state.
If Otunba Emmanuel Fayose secures the PDP ticket, it may trigger a major political realignment in Ekiti, as the party rides on a wave of renewed optimism and public support.
