Nigerian Army Announces 2027 Short Service Commission Recruitment

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027, creating opportunities for eligible Nigerians seeking to join the military as commissioned officers.

According to the recruitment announcement, the exercise is open to eligible civilians and serving military personnel who meet the stipulated requirements. The programme provides opportunities in various areas, including Combat Arms such as Infantry and Armour, as well as Combat Support Arms including Artillery, Engineers, Signals and Intelligence.

The Army stated that applicants are expected to meet specific citizenship, educational, medical, physical and age requirements before they can be considered for the recruitment exercise. Candidates are also required to satisfy the prescribed academic and other eligibility conditions for the programme.

The recruitment exercise is scheduled to run from August 14 to October 17, 2026, according to the announcement.

The Nigerian Army has also cautioned members of the public against fraudulent recruitment activities, advising prospective applicants to rely on official Army communication channels for accurate information concerning the exercise.

The 2027 Short Service Combatant Commission recruitment is part of the Nigerian Army’s efforts to strengthen its officer corps and provide qualified Nigerians with opportunities to pursue careers in the military.
