Osun 2026: Adeleke Leads as Oyebamiji Stays Close Behind in Early Results

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has taken an early lead in the ongoing Osun State governorship election, according to results currently uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

The emerging figures show a closely fought contest between Adeleke and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, with the incumbent governor maintaining an early advantage while Oyebamiji remains firmly within striking distance as more polling-unit results continue to arrive.

As of the latest update displayed on the INEC portal, 1,340 out of the 3,763 expected polling-unit results had been uploaded, representing 35.61 per cent of the total results expected across the state.

The portal also showed that the latest uploaded result came from Polling Unit 29/02/04/004 in Ife North Local Government Area, with the upload recorded at about 5:18 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The early trend has put Adeleke ahead, but the margin between him and Oyebamiji remains narrow enough to keep the race highly competitive. With more than 2,400 polling-unit results still expected to be uploaded, the current figures cannot yet be regarded as an indication of the final outcome.

The 2026 Osun governorship election has attracted significant attention, with Adeleke seeking another term under the Accord Party and Oyebamiji challenging for the APC. Both camps have expressed confidence in their chances as counting and result transmission continue across the state.

The latest development on the IReV portal is therefore being closely monitored, as results from additional polling units and the various local government areas could significantly alter the current standings
