The 2025 edition of the Rector’s Cup Football Competition kicked off with energy and excitement at the FEDPA Football Pitch, as Agricultural Technology and Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) secured strong wins in their opening Group A matches.
In the first match, Agric Tech walloped Accountancy 4–0, making a bold win in their opening game. Ajiboye Joseph (ND I) led the charge with two goals, while Adebayo Sammad (ND I) and Adebayo Jamiu (ND II) added one goal each to complete the rout. Agric Tech controlled the game from the first whistle, scoring three goals by halftime and sealing the match with a fourth in the second half.
The second fixture saw SLT edge Public Administration 3–1 in an entertaining battle. Aboderin Samuel (ND II) bagged a brilliant brace, while fellow ND II student Abdul-Ganiy Adetunji Adenekan added a third for SLT. Public Administration managed a first-half goal through Waris Oyelade, but their chances were dashed in the second half after a handball in the box led to a penalty that SLT calmly converted.
The Rector’s Cup, approved by Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE), runs from July 29 to August 4, 2025, as part of Sports Week. The knockout-format competition aims to promote teamwork, discipline, and unity among students and staff.
