The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has disowned a viral disclaimer falsely attributed to it, which claimed there were no plans to pay the April wage award arrears to federal civil servants.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the OAGF described the circulating notice as “fake” and urged the public—particularly federal workers—to disregard the misinformation.
The OAGF confirmed that it is currently processing the outstanding wage award arrears and assured that disbursement is expected to commence before the end of June.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all stakeholders as we finalize the necessary arrangements to ensure seamless disbursement,” the statement read.
The office also cautioned the public against relying on unofficial sources for government-related financial information. It emphasized that all legitimate updates will be communicated through verified channels.
“All authentic updates regarding wage awards and other financial matters will be communicated exclusively through the OAGF’s verified platforms, including our official website, press releases from the Federal Ministry of Finance, and authorized government spokespersons,” the OAGF added.
