The visit to the ancient Benin Palace marked the conclusion of the two-day inaugural meeting of PGF Governors held in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Governor Oyebanji, popularly known as BAO, and the other governors were warmly received by the revered monarch, who commended the Forum for choosing Edo State as the host of their strategic meeting. The Oba emphasized the importance of unity, good governance, and the preservation of Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
The palace visit, rich in tradition and royal pageantry, also provided an opportunity for the governors to pay homage to one of Nigeria’s most respected traditional rulers and to reaffirm their commitment to collaborative leadership and national development.
The PGF meeting brought together governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliberate on key governance issues and strategies for improving service delivery across their states.
Governor Oyebanji, who has been actively engaged in intergovernmental collaboration, described the visit as a mark of respect for traditional institutions and a reaffirmation of the Forum’s appreciation for cultural values.
Photos from the event showed the governors in colorful traditional attire, paying their respects to the Oba amid rich displays of Benin royal heritage.
