Olajengbesi Demands Retraction, Apology From Senator Fadahunsi Over Alleged Defamatory Statements

Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi has demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from Senator Francis Fadahunsi over statements the senator allegedly made about him during television interviews on Viable TV and Channels Television.

In a letter dated August 12, 2026, and signed by Hammed Lasisi, Esq., Associate Partner at Law Corridor, solicitors to Olajengbesi said their client was defamed by statements made during a Viable TV interview on July 2 and an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.

According to the lawyers, Fadahunsi allegedly questioned Olajengbesi’s identity and place of origin during the Viable TV interview, stating that he was “not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha” and was “from somewhere in Ogun State.” The senator was also accused of alleging that Olajengbesi was “using thugs, Eiye and Aye.”

The legal team said the statements were false and capable of damaging Olajengbesi’s reputation, particularly because they allegedly portrayed him as someone associated with cult groups and criminal activities.

The lawyers further cited the senator’s appearance on Politics Today on August 11, where he allegedly referred to the late Ajayi Aderogba, popularly known as Rogba, as an “Eiye man sponsored by Barrister Olajengbesi” and accused him of terrorising his territory through Eiye and Aye members.

Law Corridor argued that the statements, when taken in their ordinary meaning, allegedly portrayed Olajengbesi as a person who sponsors, finances, supports or deploys members of cult groups and thugs for political purposes.

The solicitors stated that their client strongly denied the allegations and maintained that he had no affiliation with the Eiye, Aye or any other cult group. They described him as a legal practitioner, political figure and public-interest advocate whose professional and political reputation could be seriously affected by such allegations.

Olajengbesi’s lawyers also said the statements were particularly damaging because he is the spokesperson of The Imole Campaign Council and the Accord Party candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State.

The letter warned that the alleged statements had been widely circulated across television, social media and other digital platforms, potentially exposing the lawyer and politician to public ridicule, suspicion and reputational damage.

Consequently, the legal team demanded that Senator Fadahunsi immediately cease making or circulating similar allegations, retract the statements made on both television programmes and issue an unreserved public apology through the same media platforms, subject to the cooperation of the platforms involved.

The lawyers also demanded a written undertaking that the senator would not repeat or republish the alleged defamatory statements or make substantially similar allegations against their client.

They gave Senator Fadahunsi 24 hours from receipt of the letter to comply with the demands, warning that failure to do so would lead to the commencement of legal proceedings without further notice.

In the proposed legal action, Olajengbesi’s lawyers said they would seek declarations that the statements were false and defamatory, orders for their retraction and an injunction against further publication. They also indicated that their client would seek ₦10 billion in general and aggravated damages, alongside legal costs and other reliefs available under the law.

The lawyers maintained that the demand was a final opportunity for Senator Fadahunsi to resolve the matter before litigation and stated that all their client’s legal rights and remedies remained expressly reserved.
