FG Makes Fresh Announcement, Gives Nigerians Reason to Prepare for Tuesday
The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid ul Mawlid, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
The declaration was announced on Friday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani.
The Minister extended his greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the diaspora, urging citizens to use the occasion to reflect on the values associated with Eid ul Mawlid, including compassion, humility and service to others.
Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to use the period for prayers for peace and national cohesion, stressing that building a united and peaceful country is a shared responsibility.
He urged citizens to celebrate with restraint and mutual respect while wishing the Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid ul Mawlid.
The public holiday will be observed nationwide on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
