The Federal Government has opened the Tinubu Light Initiative portal, creating a new opportunity for businesses across Nigeria to access affordable solar power solutions and reduce the burden of high energy costs.

The initiative, being implemented with the involvement of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), is aimed at supporting businesses with access to renewable energy while promoting cleaner and more reliable power alternatives.
Business owners are encouraged to take advantage of the newly launched platform as the government continues to expand interventions aimed at addressing Nigeria’s longstanding electricity challenges.
The Tinubu Light Initiative is part of the broader efforts of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to improve electricity access, strengthen renewable energy adoption and create a more conducive environment for businesses to operate.
The Federal Government has repeatedly identified reliable electricity as critical to economic growth, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses that often depend heavily on generators because of inadequate grid supply. The administration has also been promoting private-sector participation and renewable energy investment as part of efforts to improve the country’s power sector.
The initiative comes against the backdrop of other federal interventions in the renewable energy sector. Existing government programmes such as Solar Power Naija have focused on expanding off-grid solar solutions and supporting companies involved in solar-home systems and mini-grid development.
The Tinubu Light programme is expected to provide businesses with an alternative source of electricity that could help lower their dependence on diesel and petrol-powered generators while improving the reliability of power available for daily operations.
The National Board for Technology Incubation has urged business owners to visit its official platform and access the Tinubu Light section to take advantage of the initiative.
The development also comes as the Federal Government continues to pursue broader renewable-energy investments. Under the Tinubu Light Initiative, public universities are also expected to benefit from a reported $500 million solar power investment aimed at improving electricity supply on campuses.
For many businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, access to more affordable and dependable electricity could translate into reduced operating costs, longer working hours and improved productivity.
The opening of the portal therefore marks another step in the Federal Government’s efforts to expand access to alternative energy sources and tackle the impact of unreliable electricity on businesses and economic activities across Nigeria.
