Contrary to the circulation trending on the social media space particularly, the PDP platforms that the former acting Governor of Ekiti State, Rt Honourable Tunji Odeyemi and the state deputy chairman of the PDP, Lanre Omolase met with the former Governor of Ekiti State , Ayo Fayose at his Lagos residence yesterday to discuss the forthcoming congresses and the way forward which Odeyemi has described it as a cooked up story from the pot of mischief makers.
Odeyemi, who is a strong contender for the position of the state chairman refuted the claim this morning saying: My brother, I heard about it yesterday evening on one or two PDP platforms that Honourable Lanre Omolase aka, Mola and myself met with Fayose in Lagos same yesterday to deliberate on the coming congress, I am telling you I am presently in Ado Ekiti “.
“Let me emphatically tell you again that I have not travelled to Ibadan takless of Lagos since January this year. I have not called or received calls, text messages, video call or whatever forms of communication from Ayo Fayose or myself to him from January this year and up till this moment”. Where did they get what they are circulating on social media? Odeyemi asked.
” I only met with Mola during the burial ceremony of the late mother of Honourable Adekola at Igbara Odo and we greeted ourselves by waving of hands at a distance.”
The former Governor stressed further: “Since the beginning of this year to date, I only travelled by road to Abuja in February, took a flight from Abuja to Yola to attend former speakers” conference, came back to Abuja, spent another ten days, I came back to Ekiti here after. For God sake, where did they get all this?
” I want to challenge them to bring out the fact that Mola and myself met with Fayose yesterday or better still, they should provide the pictorial evidence of the meeting and make it to the public”.
“Meanwhile, Fayose and Mola are not my enemies. We are brothers and we shall always mean well for Ekiti.”
The allegation that Odeyemi and Omolase met with Fayose at his Lagos residence went viral yesterday and being circulated by a group within the party called”Ekiti Progressives”.
It would be recalled that three weeks ago, Rt Honourable Tunji Odeyemi was approached and pleaded with by notable leaders of the party to contest for the position of the state chairman and salvage the party, position it for future elections which he later agreed.
Odeyemi had collected the nomination form since last week in response to the leaders request which did not go down well with some of the progressives members.
