NYSC Requires Evidence of Mandatory Industrial Training for HND Graduates

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Directorate Headquarters has issued a directive requiring all prospective Corps Members who have completed a Higher National Diploma (HND) program to provide evidence of completing the mandatory one-year Industrial Training before being registered at NYSC Orientation Camps.

In a letter dated July 24, 2024 addressed to Rectors, Provosts, and Registrars of Polytechnics and Monotechnics, the NYSC Directorate noted that it has been observed that some HND graduates have not completed the required one-year Industrial Training prior to enrolling in the HND program.

“In view of the foregoing and to ensure the sanctity of our educational system, Prospective Corps Members who are HND graduates will be required to present evidence of the completion of the one-year Industrial Training before being registered at the NYSC Orientation Camps,” the letter states.

The NYSC Directorate has requested that Polytechnics and Monotechnics widely publicize this information to their students to avoid situations where HND graduates are denied registration at NYSC Orientation Camps for failure to provide the necessary documentation.

This move by the NYSC Directorate is aimed at upholding the standards of Nigeria’s educational system and ensuring that HND graduates have the practical experience required before participating in the National Youth Service Corps program.
