Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has claimed that he spent his personal resources campaigning for Peter Obi but was never appreciated for his efforts.

Fayose made the remarks in a video released on Friday while responding to criticism that followed his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

Speaking in the video, Fayose said he made significant personal sacrifices during Obi’s presidential campaign, including making his hotel available to supporters and participating in protests in support of the Obidient movement.

“Do you know how much I spent on the last election? Do you know how much I spent on your Obi? I even gave you people my hotel. I even came to the protest,” he said.

He expressed disappointment that Obi had never reached out to acknowledge or appreciate his contributions.

“Seyi is a good boy. He removed his cap and appreciated me. Has Obi come to greet me since I started campaigning? Has Obi come to say thank you? Did you people send me the work?” Fayose asked.

The businessman also criticised some supporters of the Obidient movement, accusing them of relying on others to drive political change instead of taking responsibility themselves.

“You people are not even worth it. You are there waiting for my own people to liberate you when you can liberate yourselves,” he said.

Fayose further stated that although he supported Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, he remains proud of his Yoruba heritage and has admiration for President Bola Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu.

“I am a Yoruba man. I love Tinubu with all my heart and I love Seyi Tinubu. He is a good guy,” he said.

He added that he could decide to campaign for President Tinubu in future elections if he chooses.

“If I like, I will start campaigning for Tinubu because you guys are not even worth it,” he added.

His latest comments come days after he addressed public backlash over a viral video in which he was seen singing the pro-Tinubu anthem, On Your Mandate We Shall Stand, alongside Seyi Tinubu.

Responding in a video shared on Instagram, Fayose denied claims that he had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that his friendship with Seyi Tinubu should not be interpreted as a change in political allegiance.

According to him, he recently spent time with Seyi Tinubu, socialite Cubana Chief Priest and others, where they discussed politics and other national issues before ending the evening with prayers.

“I spent quality time with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and the rest of us last night. We discussed politics, we discussed everything discussable. When I was leaving, Seyi said, ‘Uncle Isaac, let me walk you to your car,'” he said.

Fayose explained that they prayed together, including offering prayers for President Tinubu, stressing that praying for the President does not amount to joining the APC.

“That doesn’t mean I’m in APC. I’m still 101 per cent Obidient. Tinubu’s family are my family. I love Tinubu, but I told them we’re still going to win them. This is politics without hate,” he said.

He also dismissed allegations that he accepted money to switch political camps, maintaining that political differences should never destroy friendships or family relationships.
Fayose added that he still considers the Tinubu family close to his own and believes political engagement should be conducted without bitterness or hostility.
