The Ekiti State House of Assembly has resumed legislative activities after its recess, with members returning to the Assembly complex on Monday, August 31, 2026.

The Assembly is also set to begin the public rendering of accounts of stewardship by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), public tertiary institutions, as well as Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) authorities on Tuesday, September 1.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke, the exercise is part of the Assembly’s commitment to transparency, accountability and effective oversight of public resources.

The accounts of stewardship exercise will run from September 1 to October 7, 2026, during which heads of MDAs, governing authorities of tertiary institutions and Local Government and LCDA Chairmen are expected to present reports on their activities, use of public funds and plans for improvement.

Oke said detailed schedules for appearances had been forwarded to the affected institutions and officials.

Those expected to appear before the Assembly have been directed to come with relevant financial records, budgets, audit reports, project status reports and other documents requested in advance.

The exercise is expected to enable lawmakers to review the performance of government institutions against budgetary allocations and assess how public funds have been utilised.

The Assembly said the initiative would further strengthen public financial management and ensure that public resources are deployed effectively for the benefit of residents of Ekiti State.
