Mulikat Akande-Adeola Praises Security Agencies Over Rescue of Oyo Pupils, Teachers

Former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, has expressed joy over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Esiele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing their release as a welcome development for their families, Ogbomosoland and the entire state.

The victims were abducted on May 15, 2026, when armed men invaded Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School in Esiele, as well as Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, whisking away pupils, students and teachers. They regained their freedom after spending over 50 days in captivity following a coordinated rescue operation by security agencies.

Efforts by SOLIDSTAR NEWS to speak directly with the former lawmaker were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, her message was conveyed through her aide and longtime supporter, Mr. Ezekiel Agbomojo.

Speaking on her behalf, Agbomojo said Akande-Adeola received the news of the victims’ rescue with gratitude to God, noting that their safe return had brought relief not only to their families but also to the entire Ogbomoso zone.

He said the former Majority Leader appreciated the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, the Nigerian Armed Forces, other security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders and all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the successful rescue of the victims.

According to Agbomojo, Akande-Adeola believes the successful operation demonstrates the importance of cooperation among security agencies and communities in addressing insecurity.

He also conveyed her condolences to the family of the teacher who lost his life during the ordeal and prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved family.

Agbomojo further appealed to governments at all levels to strengthen security around schools and rural communities to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He disclosed that although Hon. Akande-Adeola could not personally speak at the time.

“Alhaja Mulikat Akande-Adeola is deeply touched by what the children and their teachers went through. She has asked me to assure the victims, their families and the good people of Ogbomoso that she is concerned and will personally identify with them and reach out to them in the coming days,” Agbomojo said.

He added that the former lawmaker remains committed to the welfare of the people and will continue to support initiatives that promote peace, security and quality education across Oyo State.

The rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers has continued to attract reactions from political leaders, traditional rulers and residents, many of whom have commended the security agencies for bringing the prolonged ordeal to a successful end.
